Muthio Nzau, PhD.

Post-Doctoral Research Fellow

Muthio is keen on environmental dimensions of development. She has strong background and research interests in human-environment relations; sustainable natural resource use; biodiversity conservation; gender inclusiveness; and science-policy communication and diplomacy.

Muthio is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Partnership for African Social and Governance Research (PASGR) where she is extensively involved in scientific research coordination and implementation, project cycle, analysis and policy engagement.

Muthio earned a PhD in Social-Ecology and Ecosystem Management from the Technical University of Munich, Germany in 2021. The title of her PhD dissertation was, “Human Acceptance and Ecological Outcomes of Conservation Strategies in Fragile Forest Ecosystems of South-Eastern Kenya”. She holds an MA in Human-Environment Relations in Africa from the University of Cologne, Germany and an undergraduate degree in Education from the University of Nairobi, Kenya.
